Fire Element

Picture

The Fire element represents warmth and light. It is dynamic, moving, and full of spark and vitality. It is lively and colorful, and brilliant in its activity.

Corresponding attributes:
  • Organs: Heart and Small Intestine
  • Function: Circulation
  • Emotion: Joy (positive) and Over-excitement (negative)
  • Energy: Expansive

Personality: The strength of Fire’s personality is exuberance, joy, and the thrill of being alive. You find fun in everything you do and light up the paths of others as you go. You yearn for intimacy, needing to touch and be touched. You’re passionate and warm and love change and new experiences.

The challenge for this element is overexcitement which can lead to being scattered, erratic, anxious, or at its most extreme, hyperactive or prone to panic attacks. When you’re stressed, your energy will surge upward too quickly and you can act rashly, which you regret later. This quality also means that you may not be able to stick with anything for very long. And because of fire’s emotional vulnerability, when you’re hurt, you can become deeply sad and it will feel difficult to find your way out. You naturally distance yourself from others when you’re really upset, but staying home alone only causes you to fall into deeper despair. You need to reestablish a connection with others because that’s what really nourishes your soul.

Fire loves variety and change. For the same reason, you’re a great multi-tasker, but you risk getting overextended and scattered as ideas flood your head or projects stack up on your desk. It can be hard to stay focused – you’re just so excited about everything that comes your way.

Romance: When it comes to romance, you’re crazy about falling in love, but you’d prefer the infatuation stage to last forever. Once things start feeling too settled, you may become dissatisfied and look for new excitement - whether within the relationship or outside of it.

Friendship: Fire can seem a bit fickle socially. You may have many friends, but they may not be deep or lifelong bonds because most people aren’t as lively as you are and can’t move or think quickly enough for you. When things get difficult, you may want to move on rather than stick around to work on the relationship. It’s not that you don’t care about others, but no one should go to Fire people for deep commiseration. However, you do go to them to feel uplifted, forget about your troubles, and get some fun back into your life.

Style:  This element has fun with clothes. As a fire woman, you can pull off quirky, dramatic combinations that might look ridiculous on anyone else – plaid, fur, and lace . . .with cowboy boots - and you look fabulous. You’d sleep in high heels if you could and love stilettos with pointed toes. You prefer sexy fashions, often in vivid colors or animal prints, and will always want to wear things that are pretty, fun, make you feel delectable.

Home: You’ll probably prefer dramatic, fun or unusual architecture and décor. You love avant-garde furniture, playful accent pieces, extreme or eccentric artwork, and strong colors.

Movement: Because fire loves to have fun and doesn’t focus on anything for long, you’ll avoid any exercise that’s repetitive, boring, or takes a long time to do. Any activity that allows fast movement and change will appeal to you. You’ll also enjoy moving to music, and will especially love dancing if it involves a partner you can flirt with.

Profession: You’re great with other people and extremely talented at communicating so you could easily end up in a related career. You’re superb with public relations and marketing and can excel at sales because your warm, upbeat personality makes you’re clients feel better the minute you walk in the door. This element is a natural at performing, so you’ll find a lot of actors in this category, as well as, teachers and public speakers. A well-balanced fire has a wonderful ability to take people to great heights, inspiring them to recognize and use the best in themselves.

Fire Imbalances: When the Fire element becomes imbalanced, it will manifest in its corresponding organs – heart and small intestine. Symptoms may include paleness or redness in the face, shortness of breath, dizziness, palpitations, fatigue, weak voice, spontaneous sweating, night sweats, cold extremities, purplish lips, many dreams, poor sleep, irritability, poor memory, chest pain and/or fullness in the chest.
