I recently took on the task of caring for my daughter's puppy "YoYo". She is an adorable four month old Shih Tzu/Jack Russel Terrier mix. However, not being completely house-trained, she has been peeing and pooping all around the house. I decided I wanted to use a gentle green cleaner that smelled really good. As I researched different products, I found a few homemade recipes that looked easy to make and smell delicious. Here's is the one I made:
1 teaspoon washing soda (Menards) 2 teaspoons Borax (Menards) 2 teaspoons Dr. Bronner liquid castille soap (Wholefoods) 8 drops grapefruit essential oil (Eden Botanicals) 8 drops lavender essential oil 20 drops orange essential oil 4 cups warm, distilled water 16 oz. spray bottle Directions: Mix all ingredients (except the essential oils) in the spray bottle. Gently shake until all is dissolved. Add the essential oils and gently swirl. Notes: You will need pipettes to extract the essential oils if the essential oil bottle does not have an orifice reducer. If you use pipettes, do not use the same pipette for each oil. Eden Botanicals sells both pipettes and orifice reducers. Final Note This was so inexpensive and easy to make that I can't imagine using anything else. It is much better than some of the green cleaners that are being sold on the market. Be rest assured that your home will smell really good without overpowering you.
